Joke of the day

The transition period for some of us is in its zenith. Ashprihanal overtakes me and asks (it seems that it is not very easy running for him now) – So how are you? – Well, trying to get through the transition phase. How are you? – The same. How do you think the newcomers can be running so quickly? – Do you mean the Ukrainian rocket (Igor Mudrik)? He is just young. We are already veterans.

Photos Day 2

Day 1

Archived – click Post Title to view all. The first day. Well, the race has started. Everybody is running quite freshly. Igor and Sarvagata are very frisky. Sometimes I can see those who outrun me: Pranjal, Ashprihanal, Atmavir and Igor accompanied by Sarvagata. All others are running at the same pace. For instance, I have not seen Pradip since morning, as well as Surasa. Probably they are somewhere : ) Sarvagata is obviously very happy that he has started, he has been dreaming about it for a long time and at last he is at the race. Igor said that it seemed that he had been here before, that he had been running here before. Pranjal is flying now at the first space speed, he is overtaking me now. Judging by the results of the day he has a plan . He is big and strong. The weather is indulging us: it has been cloudy since morning, but now it is fine : a nice sun in clouds. The temperature is +18 which is ideal for running. If there was not the out of season period it would be excellent. I think in about 5 days it will be absolutely perfect. Everybody is in high spirits. In the morning ESPN TV channel filmed us for the E:60 program and NBC channel for Today’s Show. They broadcast not only throughout America but all over the world. The lady journalist found Rupantar last year, she was interested in the race but it was late then as the race was finishing….

It Touches The Whole World

Author: Utpal perfectionjourney.org 12.06.2011

From time to time groups of people sometimes get concerned that life on earth is suddenly going to end.  They have it on good evidence, it would seem, that our world as we know it is just going to stop being.  I have of course no evidence to contradict any of these theories, but certainly as of 6 am on June 12 the world was still functioning more or less as it always does.  10 runners stepped across the starting line, on a cool drizzling morning in Queens NY, to officially take part in the longest race in the world, the Self Transcendence 3100 mile race. Photos Day 1

Day before the start

Out of all the runners I was the last one to arrive to New York. On my way to Frankfurt where I had a connecting flight, one of the engines broke and the pilot made a decision to turn around back to Kiev. Everything went well, I am starting the race :) This morning we had the traditional 2 mile race, which most of the 3100 mile race runners completed. My time was 13:17 and I am happy with it. Llater on during the day all the runners and helpers (cooks, people who build up and take down the camp every day, media etc) were called in for a meeting with the race directors.  We have some changes in the crew – Pushkar and Galya both got injured while training and this year they are not running. But we’ve got 3 new people – Igor Mudryck, Vinnitsa, Ukraine; Sarvagata Ukrainskyi, Berdansk, Ukraine; and Pradeep Hoogakker Den Haag, Netherlands. All together we are 10 runners from 7 countries. 9 hours until the start. Good luck!
