Day 37

July 18, 2011
Day 37,9:13 pm. Looks like I am getting out of the crisis which was not only outer. I am feeling happier today. It means that the pace, and mileage, and everything will come along. The previous days were terrible, to say the least. Both on the inner and outer plane. I am happy it's over. Purna-Samarpan moved for a couple of hours and then stopped. His vein is swollen. He doesn't feel exhausted, but the vein thing prevents him even from walking. After a visit to Kaushal he went home. Todays he's got a day off. Others are trotting regardless of heat and humidity. All in all, it's been a good day.

Stay Cheerful

Day 36

July 17, 2011

Day 36, 6 pm. I am getting old. Like in earlier days, I have intermittently good and bad days. Yesterday my knee was giving me a hard time and it took a while to get rid of the pain and pick up speed. Only to find out that I can’t run and have no strength at all. So today is mostly a walking day. Purna-Samarpan has a semi-walking day. He came up with an idea to put a belt filled with ice on the stomach for “the engine to work well”. It helps him a lot in hot weather. Ananda-Lahari and Pradeep are walking too. Pradeep has a deep blister on his left foot which makes him limp. He must be the slowest today. Others are rushing to the finish. Ashprihanal is likely to finish next Sunday, in a week from now. He says that he is ready to finish because he is fed up. Hope tomorrow will be a happier day. Alakananda made our day by putting together a funny photo collage. See ya!

Just A Dream

July 17, 2011

Author:  Utpal 13 July A few days ago an American baseball player named Derek Jeter reached a major milestone in his career.  This New York Yankee short stop managed to complete his 3,000th career hit as a professional baseball player.  This is an exceptional achievement for a player.   He will be only the 28th person to accomplish this feat in the history of the game.  I am not much of a fan of the sport but when ever I hear numbers like 3000 I am compelled to take notice.  It does sound a lot like 3100 miles after all.  Read more

Just Beyond

July 17, 2011

Author: Utpal 11 July It is a place where anything can happen.  The moment you get even the tiniest bit complacent than of course that is precisely the moment you will find yourself being suprised.  Taking any aspect of the race for granted is never recommended at any time, not even up until the very last lap on the last day.  There are never certainties,  not for the runners nor as well for those of us keen observers of all its ebbs and flows.  I like to think that a miracle can happen here in a heartbeat, that in an instant the sleeping giant will awake or the champion can potentially tumble off his peak.  Read more
